Hello from Wakefield, Nebraska!
Several women from our congregation are interested in attending Triennial 2010. We'd like to start planning fundraisers now to help offset the cost of attending. Do you have any ideas for us that have worked in other congregations? We'd like to raise almost all of the monies necessary for these 5-6 women to attend, so we're talking a substantial amount of money. We've already volunteered to organize and host our church's annual Ice Cream Social for the next two summers, but would like more ideas (that might not necessarily involve food!!)
Please leave comments with your ideas to help us out. We'd appreciate it!

Garage sales are popular in our town, especially if they are advertised in the newspaper as HUGE or MULTI FAMILY. The key is to hand out stickers beforehand so people can price their donations before they bring them to the church. It will save a lot of work! Also, have people with trucks lined up to take the leftovers to the nearest thrift store collection center.
Silent auctions always work for us!
Here's one idea that we're using for fundraising for CHIC. We've had excellent luck with auctions - live as well as silent. With our live one, we raised around $1,800 in one sitting!!! That was the best we've ever had!
You have probably done those, as well. But they work!
We had a bazaar/bake sale and made about $3800 even without advertising to the community. We organized "interest" groups to make items for the bazaar - knitted items, quilting items, placemat purses, floral arrangements, jewelry items, Christmas ornaments, etc. God blessed us abundantly.
Fundraisers we have done have mostly been of the bazaar type. A few have been chili & pie suppers, or community fair type of activities with specialized booths "manned" by ladies of the local church(es).
